Sports News:
Where all our local clubs and societies have the opportunity to tell us what they are up to. Please let me know what you are all doing and keep the rest of Brookenby aware of all your successes and failures! We have an excellent sports field by Lorraine Road that needs attention. What better way to try to raise funds by publicising your use and need of this resource by writing articles and reports? Then we can all read about it - and Brookenby Forward, as the Parish Plan Implementation group, has a good argument when it tries for funding and grants to develop the sports field.

Information please
I am aware that there are a couple of Landrovers around Brookenby with full cages, ready for 4x4 and off road events. How about some reports of events with results? Don't hide your lights under bushels.

From listening to the local radio, it seems that the football season is almost upon us - even as the English cricket team is currently showing India how to play, and achieving the World No 1 ranking. (Now over with England winning all four tests and confirming its position as World No 1.)
Does Brookenby have a football team? If so, how about some write ups so that those out there who follow football may actually come out and watch and support you?
After a quick chat with Rev MacKay, we may start getting regular reports of games and fixtures for the football team.

Brookenby's rally driver is about to get his feet wet - not literally, hopefully...Actually he did, during 'Man Overboard' drills!
Brod Purdy has just returned from a very tough seven days on a 60 feet long, 32 ton racing yacht on which he learnt how to handle such a boat. The training course took place in the Solent, the English Channel and around the Isle of Wight with weather ranging from Force 7 strong winds to flat calm and sunny skies! Brod was one of eight trainees with experience ranging from a New Zealander who raced his own boat every weekend to a chef from London and Brod, neither of whom had any experience in this form of high-level sport! Unfortunately, Brod suffered a slight injury and thus had to stand and watch for the final couple of days, resulting in the recommendation that he repeat the course again. The formal debrief was very complimentary as Brod was considered to be good enough to have passed a normal, cruising, competent crew course, but, owing to his time out, he did not quite achieve the standard required for an ocean racing crew. Next time out should sort that out! He is now looking towards the middle of May - when the weather may be a little more benign than it was in October, although it could have been worse!
Between final acceptance and the start, Brod will be trying to interest some kind local benefactor/s to sponsor his entry in return for carrying out promotional duties for him/them.
